Clear Communication for Smartphones, Even in High Noise
If you rely on your smartphone for push-to-talk apps like Zello or ESChat in a noisy environment, such as riding, security details, event operations, or industrial sites, the built-in mic quickly gets drowned out. The IASUS NT5 throat microphone solves that by picking up your voice directly from vocal cord vibration instead of the air around you. No wind, engine noise, or crowd noise in the way. Just clear transmission.
This page covers which NT5 configuration fits your phone, how to set it up, and what else you need to get on the air.
Which Throat Mic Works With Smartphones?
Smartphones connect in two ways, wired or wireless:

The NT5, 3.5mm Pin ($197.25) is the wired option for phones with a headphone jack, or any phone with a USB-C or Lightning to 3.5mm adapter. It covers iPhone (all generations, including iPhone 15 with dongle), Samsung, and LG.

The NT5, USB-C ($197.25) plugs straight into modern USB-C phones without an adapter, in a straight or right angle version.
Wireless option: pair the BLE Wireless PTT with a wireless throat mic to keep your phone in your pocket and trigger PTT from your finger or handlebar.
What’s in the box: NT5 throat mic headset, throat strap (fits 13 to 21 inch necks), and the matching adaptor with button, compatible with wired PTT accessories.
Smartphones the NT5 Works With
Phone compatibility depends on the connector:
- iPhone (all generations): use the NT5 3.5mm Pin. iPhone 15 and newer use the 3.5mm pin with a USB-C to 3.5mm dongle.
- Samsung phones: use the NT5 3.5mm Pin.
- LG phones: use the NT5 3.5mm Pin.
- USB-C phones: use the NT5 USB-C (straight or right angle) for a direct plug-in connection.

How to Set Up Your NT5 With a Smartphone
- Connect the adaptor to your phone’s audio port (3.5mm, or USB-C with an adapter if needed).
- Fit the throat strap comfortably around your neck so the transponders sit softly against your skin.
- Position the transducers on your voice box (where vibrations are strongest) and adjust until volume and clarity peak. Placement varies by person.
- Open your PTT app (Zello, ESChat) and use the inline PTT button to transmit. Make sure the app is set to use the headset microphone.
For more detail, see How to Use a Throat Microphone.
